On the territory of the Khodjeyli region of the Republic of Karakalpakstan there is a village called "Qirqu’yli" ("Forty houses"). Near this village there is a canal "Tasly Jap" ("Rocky Canal"), and the bridge of the channel is called "Boydah Kopir" ("Bridge of Bachelors").
Where did this name come from?
The reason for the emergence of this microtoponim is, in our opinion, the following factor: after the acquisition of the country's independence, modern buildings for medium specialized institutions such as the medical college, transport college and agro-college were built on this territory. On this bridge of girls-students of the medical college, young bachelor boys were waiting to meet. In connection with this social factor among the population, this bridge became known as the "Bridge of Bachelors".
